professional photos

This is a photo of whale shark, technically known as a Rhincodon typus, which are an endangered species who are hunted for their fins and flesh, and also find themselves under threat by pollution and strikes by boat propellers.  Because they feed with their mouths open, as well as drawing in plankton and fish, they are under risk of drawing in objects such as plastic in their digestive system which can cause them much harm.

I especially like this because it captures the shark in it's natural habitat which you rarely see.

This is a photo of the lava lake of Mount Nyiragongo, that bubbles at the bottom of the volcano’s immense crater. Persistent lava lakes in volcanic craters are rare, with only five currently known in the world. The one on Mount Nyiragongo varies in size, but has at times been one of the most voluminous lava lakes in the planet’s recent history.
